Who We Are
Commerce Little League is proud to have a long year history of providing the children in our community an opportunity to play baseball at all skill
levels, in a Little League setting.
In 1954, the league was formed as Walled Lake Little League, later becoming Commerce Little League (CLL) after land was deeded by
Commerce Township – Volunteers took ownership of providing a place for families and players to call their baseball home.
Every field, dugout, and even the concessions building at Maple Glen Park were built by volunteers with one mission in mind - to bring
the fun, camaraderie and experience of learning baseball to every child who wants to play.
What started with 3 fields has grown to 8, thanks in part to Gary Henderson - a baseball fan and tireless volunteer who was CLL’s first
field director. Henderson field is dedicated in Gary’s memory for making our fields some of the best in the State. The remaining fields
were named after MLB Parks, with the exception of Fogle Field. We also honor Steve Fogle, a former Manager and Board President,
who helped make CLL what it is today. Fogle still remains an outstanding volunteer for Little League Baseball at our Michigan District
level.
We’ve continued to grow and today serve over 800 players and 500 families in the community, with families citing our little league
as a reason to move to the Commerce area!
CLL is a 501c3 non-profit organization run by volunteers. Our team maintains all field operations, umpire staff, concession management, and most importantly coaches kids! We are committed to providing every player with a great learning experience through the Commerce Little League program.
Why Support Commerce Little League?
At Commerce Little League we offer 4 opportunities to play within one organization. We believe that every player, at every skill
level should have the chance to play baseball at an affordable cost:
Commerce Little League Spring House Ball – a 10 week season with playoffs for all skill levels offering T-Ball, Minors (7-10 yr), Majors (10-12 yr), Intermediate (13 yr), and Juniors (14 yr) divisions for players ages 4 yrs. to 14 yrs.
Commerce Cobras Tournament Teams – An opportunity for a higher level of competitive play in addition to the CLL House season. The Commerce Cobras play in
competitive tournaments throughout Michigan in May - July.
Commerce Cobras Black Travel Teams - Highly competitive travel teams for our older players (13 yrs and above) who have graduated from our tournament team level. The formation of these teams is a direct result of the hard work and training put forth in the early years of the Cobras Tournament Teams. These teams, while a higher level of competition, still follow the same philosophy of development for our players.
Commerce Little League Fall House Ball – A 6 week season for all skill levels offering T-Ball, Pee Wee, Minor, and Major
divisions for players ages 5 yrs. to 12 yrs. Also, dependent upon interest, a Intermediate/Juniors Sandlot Division for our 13 & 14 yr olds.
The CLL games are played following Little League Rules. This offers players the coveted opportunity to play in the Little League District Playoffs. The ultimate goal is to advance to Regional tournaments with the hope of reaching the Little League World Series - a tradition since
1947.
Becoming a sponsor with Commerce Little League brings your company name to over 600 families in the Commerce
community and surrounding areas. In addition, your reach is extended throughout Michigan with our Tournament teams.
Most importantly your generous donations allow us to continue to offer baseball to every player who wants to be part of this great game.
